GMU Makes the Final Four!

posted by Josh Wright at 2:30 pm

What a game!  George Mason beat UCONN 86-84 in overtime and is heading to the Final Four after eliminating Michigan State, North Carolina, Wichita State, and now, UCONN.  Congratulations to the Patriots!

  2. As a UCLA alum and GMU prof, who are you going to cheer for in this Final Four? Good thing they don’t play each other until the finals. Probably not a choice you expected to have.

  3. Good question! It has been a thrill to watch each team have their run. My loyalties between UCLA and GMU have never been tested (for obvious reasons). I really do hope that I face the problem of making a decision in the finals. But until a Patriot/ Bruin final comes to fruition, I am going just going to be happy about the whole thing!

But if push comes to shove, I will probably root for GMU. The Bruins have won a ton of NCAA titles and are a very young team that will be back to the Final Four, whereas this Patriot team is a once and a lifetime story. Plus, GMU writes my paycheck.
